The 5th Rakija Fest is an international fair of rakija, representing the strongest flavors of Serbia under the slogan ”Spicy and Sweet”. It is organized by Rakia Bar and the association of producers of natural fruit brandy ”The strongest flavors of Serbia”. The fair is under the auspices of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and has the support of the Belgrade Tourist Organization and will be held on December 10th and 11th in the Belexpocenter in New Belgrade.

On the other hand the production of rakija may be part of a touristic offer since rakija is a souvenir that tourists usually buy. This year the Rakija Fest will present a special souvenir called the ’Belgrade Rakija’. The labels for this rakija will be decided through a competition on the eve of the Rakija Fest where VIP participants will compete to make the best design for this rakija.’

Milada Lukesevic from the Association for Agriculture, Food and Tobacco Industry and the Serbian Water Chamber of Commerce pointed out the fact that Yugoslavia was famous for annually exporting millions of gallons of this beverage. Through the support of the Rakija Fest the Serbian Chamber of Commerce wants to encourage manufacturers to learn about the legal framework, modern production methods in order to re-position themselves in foreign markets, to reach the level they once had as producers from Yugoslavia since Serbia was the best known republic for the production of rakija.
